Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has denied any electoral deal or partnership with the African Democratic Congress before, during, or after the August 15 governorship election.

The governor said the credit for his victory belongs to God and the people of Osun, not to any political arrangement with the ADC.

In a post on X on Tuesday, Adeleke said: “I had no electoral deal or partnership with the ADC before, during, or after the governorship election.”

He added that “For the sake of history, it is important to clarify that the ADC was never part of the rainbow coalition that canvassed, mobilised, and supported our campaign in the battle leading to last Saturday’s election.”

The governor attributed his re-election to divine support and the people of Osun.

“The credit for our victory goes to God Almighty and the good people of Osun State for their overwhelming support and re-election,” he wrote.

This comes hours after ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the party’s decision to work with Accord was aimed at stopping the APC from winning in Osun. 

Abdullahi said the ADC polled 17,180 votes while Adeleke, on the Accord platform, won with 511,067 votes to defeat APC’s Bola Oyebamiji who got 444,815 votes.

The ADC had described the cooperation as a deliberate strategy and a “template for 2027.”

Adeleke commended his political partners who supported the campaign and said he remains governor for all residents.

“I commend all our political partners who sacrificed, worked tirelessly, and went all out to make Saturday a victory day for all Osun people. Their commitment and support were instrumental to our success,”he said.

“Now that the election is over, I remain the Governor of all Osun people, irrespective of political affiliation, religion, or tribe. My commitment is to unite our people and continue…”
