A Nigerian businessman, Amadi Simon, has been taken into custody in Switzerland following a joint international operation targeting a cross-border drug money laundering ring.

The arrest was made by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in collaboration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and law enforcement agencies from Switzerland, France, and Greece. The coordinated action on April 28, 2026, also resulted in the arrest of two other suspects in Nigeria — Jecinta Amara Ikechi, 34, in Anambra State, and Blessing Ngozi Amadi, 28, in Agbor, Delta State.
Investigators allege the group operated an elaborate financial network using front companies, cryptocurrency wallets, and several bank accounts to conceal proceeds from drug trafficking and related crimes. The network is said to have moved hundreds of billions of naira across multiple jurisdictions.
Several luxury properties in Nigeria have also been linked to the suspect, including hotels and apartments in Asaba, Agbor, and Abuja. Authorities have frozen multiple bank and crypto accounts connected to the case as inquiries continue.
NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa described the operation as a significant achievement in the global effort against organized drug crime and financial offenses.
