Troops of Sector 7, Operation ENDURING PEACE have intercepted a suspected arms supply network and seized a number of illegal firearms in Kaduna State.

According to the Army, the operation followed credible intelligence about the movement of unlawful weapons from *Jos, Plateau State to Niger State.

In the early hours of Monday, 13 July 2026,  soldiers mounted a targeted stop-and-search at the Samaru Checkpoint in Zangon Kataf LGA.

An ash-colored Mercedes-Benz was flagged down and searched.

During the search, troops discovered:

– 3 locally-made AK-47 rifles

– 4 submachine guns (SMGs)

All were hidden inside the vehicle.

One of the occupants tried to flee and was shot in the process. He was immediately taken to the Sector 7 Medical Centre in Kafanchan for treatment.

Initial investigations suggest the weapons were sourced from two suspected arms dealers in Jos and were being moved to a contact in Niger State.

The Nigerian Army said the operation reflects its commitment to cutting off illegal arms supply chains and dismantling criminal gangs that threaten peace and security.

It added that it will continue to work with other security agencies and members of the public, and urged citizens to provide timely information to help track criminal activity.
