The Nigeria Senate is pushing for transparency and responsible management of public funds by government agencies. Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, emphasized this during a visit to the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation’s Owerri Zonal Office. He stated that the Senate will continue to back the NDIC with relevant laws and budget allocations to boost its operations.

The visit aimed to engage with NDIC management and staff, review activities, assess operational hurdles, and gain insight into working conditions. Key areas of focus include funding, staffing, infrastructure, inter-agency collaboration, and compliance with laws and policies.

Adetokunbo assured the NDIC of Senate support, saying, “The Senate remains committed to supporting the NDIC through legislation and budget provisions to enable effective discharge of its duties. We expect high standards of accountability, prudence, and professionalism in using public resources.
