Nigeria and Cameroon have signed a bilateral security pact aimed at tightening surveillance and joint patrols along their shared border, especially in the Lake Chad Basin region.

The agreement covers intelligence sharing, coordinated military and police operations, and strategies to tackle smuggling, illegal migration, and insurgent activity. Both governments pledged to deploy additional personnel and surveillance equipment to high-risk border communities and trade corridors.
The deal was finalized during security talks between top officials from Abuja and Yaoundé. Authorities said cooperation will focus on protecting civilians, securing commerce routes, and safeguarding critical infrastructure while upholding each country’s sovereignty.
Officials described the pact as a step toward stabilizing border towns affected by insecurity and strengthening regional peace efforts.
