The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a Togolese woman for allegedly smuggling 5,000 Tramadol pills through the Seme border in Lagos. The suspect was intercepted at the departure tarmac, with the pills cleverly concealed in her luggage. This latest bust is part of the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in Nigeria.
According to NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, the agency has also recovered 1,040kg of skunk from an uncompleted building in Lagos, and arrested a suspect with 1,499 bottles of Codeine syrup in Kano. In Katsina, a suspect was arrested with 87.4kg of skunk, while two suspects in Osun were linked to 18.085kg of skunk.
The NDLEA has intensified its crackdown on drug trafficking, resulting in the seizure of over 637,600 pills of opioids, including tramadol and diazepam, in various operations across the country. The agency’s operatives have been acting on credible intelligence, leading to several successful interdictions, including the interception of a Mercedes-Benz vehicle conveying a large consignment of drugs in Taraba.
