The Nigerian Navy has transferred five individuals to the Department of State Services in Anambra State for further investigation into alleged ties with the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network.

According to a statement accompanying the handover, the suspects were arrested by personnel of Naval Outpost ONITSHA deployed at Forward Operating Base AMIYI. The arrests followed intelligence reports linking the group to criminal activities within Ogbaru Local Government Area.

Officials said the handover was carried out to allow the DSS Anambra State Command to conduct a more detailed probe into the suspects’ alleged roles and possible connections to broader security threats in the region.
The Navy noted that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb criminality and maintain stability in Anambra and surrounding areas. The suspects remain in DSS custody as investigations continue.
