A joint team of Nigerian Army troops and NSCDC personnel has raided an illegal mining location in Abuja and arrested 15 suspects.

The operation was carried out after credible intelligence pointed to unauthorized mining activity in the area. On arrival, security operatives apprehended the suspects on site and confiscated equipment used for the illegal extraction.

Officials say the clampdown is part of a wider push to curb illegal mining, protect public resources, and ensure only licensed operators work in the sector. The 15 suspects are in custody and will be prosecuted according to the law.

The NSCDC and Army have warned that more raids will follow in the FCT and neighboring areas to deter similar operations.
