IRAN FIRES MISSILES AT ISRAEL FOR FIRST TIME SINCE APRIL CEASEFIRE.

Iran launched ballistic missiles toward Israel on Sunday, June 7, 2026, in its first direct strike since a U.S.-brokered ceasefire took effect in early April. The attack marked the first major Iranian missile launch against Israel since the truce began.

The Israel Defense Forces said air defense systems were activated after missiles were detected heading toward northern Israel. Sirens sounded across several areas as the military moved to intercept the incoming projectiles. The IDF reported no immediate casualties or major damage, though it warned its defenses were not “iron-clad”.

The barrage followed an Israeli airstrike earlier Sunday on Beirut’s southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold known as Dahiyeh. Israel said the strike targeted a militant command center in response to Hezbollah rocket fire toward Israeli territory. Lebanese health officials reported two people killed and 20 wounded in the Beirut raid.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps described the missile launch as a “warning,” stating Tehran would deliver “more crushing and regretful blows” if Israel expanded attacks on Lebanon or retaliated. Iranian officials had previously warned that any new strike on Beirut would trigger a full resumption of hostilities.

U.S. President Donald Trump urged de-escalation, telling Iran “you’ve shot your missiles, that’s enough” and saying he was pushing for a “final deal” with Tehran. He said he had asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to avoid retaliation while negotiations continued.

The April 8 ceasefire had halted major hostilities between Iran, Israel, and the U.S., but efforts to convert the truce into a lasting settlement have stalled. The June 7 launches came as the Middle East conflict reached its 100th day.
