Security forces operating under Operation Enduring Peace have uncovered multiple illegal arms manufacturing sites in Plateau State, sparking debate over the way the conflict in the state is reported.

Troops recently raided factories in Vom, Jos South LGA, where they arrested five suspects alleged to be linked to Berom militia networks. Items recovered included locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, weapon parts, magazines, welding machines, and other industrial tools used for arms production.

The discoveries add to a pattern of similar raids carried out in the state over the past three weeks. Security sources say the operations have revealed evidence of locally organized militia activity, reprisal attacks, and coordinated weapon manufacturing.

Analysts note that while allegations involving other groups in the state often receive widespread national and international attention, the latest findings have generated little public outcry or media coverage. The contrast has led some observers to argue that the Plateau conflict is more complex than the single-narrative framing often presented, with armed actors and weapon production existing across multiple communities.
Security officials maintain that the situation requires balanced reporting and a focus on facts, noting that reprisal cycles and local arms production have prolonged instability in the region. They say recent operations have also prevented planned retaliatory attacks between communities.
The Nigeria Police and military have reiterated their commitment to intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling illegal arms networks across Plateau State.
