The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has announced it will prosecute several corruption cases in six states and the Federal Capital Territory following the conclusion of investigations.

The cases cover allegations of contract fraud, money laundering, abuse of office, and diversion of public funds.

Based on recent ICPC filings and statements, the states with active prosecutions/arraignments include:

Kaduna State – Fresh charges filed against former Governor Nasir El-Rufai and others over alleged N10.8 billion CCTV project fraud. ICPC also alleges N11bn fraudulent payment for a light rail project

FCT, Abuja – ICPC arraigned 2 suspects for alleged N10m fraud and forgery involving land for a church. Also arraigned a Director from the Federal Ministry of Works on money laundering charges and secured conviction of 4 individuals for N6m bribery

Ebonyi State – ICPC arraigned Obasi Nicholas Sunday, a staff of the Accountant-General’s Office, over alleged N61m money laundering

Ondo State – ICPC partnered with Ondo State to strengthen accountability in local governance and is tracking NPHCDA borehole projects

Ogun State – Supreme Court affirmed ICPC’s conviction of 3 NASU officials in N68m fraud case involving Tai Solarin College of Education

Plateau State – ICPC launched investigation into alleged fraud against a Plateau lawmaker involving over N75.8m

Other states where ICPC is actively tracking constituency projects include Kwara, Niger, Kogi, Kebbi, Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Lagos, Osun, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Cross River, Delta, Imo, Abia and Enugu

The commission stated that case files have been moved to prosecution departments and court processes will begin soon. ICPC Chairman, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, has repeatedly said corruption aids terrorism and banditry, and the commission will deepen the fight across MDAs.

ICPC is also currently tracking constituency and executive projects worth billions in 22 states to ensure value for money.

This comes as ICPC intensifies its anti-corruption drive with convictions, arraignments, and asset recoveries. Recently, the commission recovered N33.16bn and $1.8m in assets. 6d5f
