The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has recovered a stolen white pick-up van in the Federal Capital Territory and handed it over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.

According to the Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, the vehicle a white pick-up with registration number YAB 677 XD was recovered in the early hours of Sunday, August 23, 2026 at about 3:00am by the Tow Truck Team of the RS7.1 FCT Sector Command along the expressway to Berger in the Wuye axis.

During the operation, FRSC personnel found the original vehicle documents inside the van. They used a phone number on the documents to contact the owner and inform him of the recovery.

The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Tijjani Iliyasu, then invited the FCT Police Command to take over the case. The vehicle was formally handed over by Deputy Corps Commander (Operations), DCC Sabitu Abdu, to CSP Nuhu Usman, who received it on behalf of the FCT Commissioner of Police.

The FRSC said the recovery shows how its road surveillance and intelligence efforts are helping beyond traffic management.

“The recovery manifests the growing effectiveness of the Corps’ operational intelligence and prompt-response mechanisms, particularly where road safety operations intersect with public security,” the statement read.

Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, commended the FCT Sector Command and the Tow Truck Team for their alertness and professionalism. He said the operation aligns with the Corps’ renewed focus on intelligence-led operations and inter-agency cooperation.

Mohammed added that FRSC remains committed to working with the Police and other security agencies to strengthen information sharing and rapid response on Nigerian highways. He also urged members of the public to report suspicious vehicles and activities to authorities.
