FG BANS CASH TAX COLLECTIONS AND REVENUE ROADBLOCKS NATIONWIDE.

The Federal Government has officially banned cash payments for taxes and prohibited revenue roadblocks nationwide, as part of efforts to improve transparency, reduce corruption, and streamline collections. This move is aimed at modernizing revenue processes amid ongoing fiscal reforms.

According to Finance Minister Wale Edun, the new regulations will ensure fairness, consistency, and economic inclusion without raising tax rates. Nano and small businesses with an annual turnover of N12 million or less are exempt from tax, while other informal businesses will pay a 1% tax on turnover.

The ban on cash collections and roadblocks is expected to curb revenue leakages, promote transparency, and enhance accountability in tax administration. The government has also encouraged the use of technology-driven payment systems to make tax payments more efficient.
