The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 72-year-old man, Malam Muhammad Lawan, for allegedly chaining his 40-year-old son for 17 years in Shadawanka Village, Bauchi. The incident was discovered on February 16, 2026, following a distress call from the community.

The police team found the victim helpless with a chain on his right leg and rushed him to ATBU Teaching Hospital for medical attention. Lawan is in custody, and the case is under investigation. The police assured that perpetrators of such acts will face justice.
