The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested five security officials, including police and immigration personnel, for allegedly accepting bribes to facilitate former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s return to Nigeria. The officials, identified as Ayuba Yakubu (ASP) of the Nigeria Police Force, Murtala Inuwa of the DSS, Najeeb Murtala (ASI) of the Nigeria Immigration Service, and Musa Adamu and Salihu Victor of Aviation Security, reportedly confessed to receiving bribes to grant unauthorized access to restricted airport areas and obstruct a lawful security operation.

The arrests followed a joint investigation by the DSS, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service, and the Federal Ministry of Aviation. While some officers accepted bribes, others abused their positions without direct financial gain and will face administrative sanctions. El-Rufai has denied allegations of wrongdoing, claiming political persecution.
