The Court of Appeal, Kaduna Division, has dismissed the bail appeal filed by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

In Appeal No. CA/K/254C/2026, Justice Onyekachi Aja Otisi in a unanimous judgment affirmed the June 10, 2026 ruling of the Kaduna State High Court which refused El-Rufai’s second bail application. The court held that no fresh facts or special circumstances were presented to warrant interference. El-Rufai is being prosecuted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged financial offences during his administration from 2015-2023. He has been in ICPC custody since February 18, 2026. The court ordered accelerated hearing on a day-to-day basis and noted he could reapply if prosecution fails to diligently prosecute.
