China has solidified its position as Togo’s top import partner, with exports valued at CFA114.8 billion, accounting for 25.8% of the country’s total imports. According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic and Demographic Studies (INSEED), Togo imported 158,700 tons of goods from China during the period.

France and India followed as distant second and third suppliers, with exports worth CFA29.6 billion and CFA27.3 billion, respectively. Nigeria ranked fourth, accounting for 5.3% of Togo’s imports. The top ten suppliers collectively accounted for 64% of total imports.

Togo’s total imports reached CFA504.9 billion in value and 1.59 million tons in volume, marking a 10.9% year-on-year increase in value and 37.4% in volume. Energy products dominated the import structure, with petroleum oils and related preparations topping the list.

The country’s trade balance remained in deficit at CFA255.8 billion. The Port of Lomé plays a significant role in Togo’s import activities, serving as a subregional entry point for goods destined for other parts of West Africa.
