CHINA CALLS FOR CEASEFIRE AS MIDDLE EAST TENSIONS ESCALATE.

China is urging an immediate ceasefire and diplomatic talks to end the conflict in the Middle East, which has stretched into its third day with Israel and the US conducting strikes on Iran and Lebanon. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning emphasized the need to prevent further escalation and promote peace and stability in the region.

One Chinese citizen was killed in Tehran, and over 3,000 have been evacuated. China wasn’t informed about the US military action in advance and has urged the UN Security Council to hold an emergency meeting. China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi has expressed support for Iran’s legitimate rights and interests, while also calling for Gulf states to unite against external interference.

The international community is closely watching the developments, with Britain, France, and Germany signaling willingness to work with the US to curb Iran’s attacks. Analysts say China’s role in mediating the conflict is limited, but it reflects Beijing’s concern over its own vulnerabilities, including oil routes and regional projects.
