Soldiers under Operation HADIN KAI have rescued 53 civilians and retrieved eight vehicles after storming a suspected ISWAP/JAS roadblock on the Buratai–Kamuya road in Biu LGA, Borno.

The Army disclosed this Friday via X in a statement by Acting JTF North East Info Officer, Capt. Mohammed Goni. The June 24 operation began when troops at Dutse Kura picked up the blockade on surveillance feeds, scrambled a Quick Reaction Force, and pursued the fighters toward Mangari–Dora. A brief gun duel forced the insurgents to pull back in disarray.

The military said all 53 rescued persons and the eight recovered vehicles were taken to Buratai for documentation and medical screening. Troops also combed the escape route and secured the area without further engagement.

The command commended the unit’s swift action and called on locals to keep feeding security forces with useful intelligence. The Biu rescue follows another OPHK strike earlier in June that left 27 terrorists dead in the Southern and Northern Tumbus axis.
