Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade have arrested a suspected terrorist logistics courier along the Obajana–Lokoja road in Kogi State, recovering 500 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition hidden inside a bag of maize.

The suspect, identified as Yahaya Umar, was detained following intelligence on an arms supply network operating across the North Central region. Military officials said he was intercepted while attempting to smuggle the ammunition past security checkpoints, concealing it within agricultural produce to avoid detection.

According to preliminary findings, Umar is believed to play a central role in transporting weapons for terrorist groups active in multiple states. Investigators say the ammunition was handed to him in Obajana Forest and was intended for delivery at Dikko Junction in Suleja, Niger State, to an unidentified recipient.
