The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the Saturday’s bye-elections for the Ungogo and Kano Municipal State Assembly seats. APC’s Aliyu Nabil Daneji secured the Kano Municipal Constituency seat with 7,484 votes, while party candidate Aminu Sa’ad Sa’ad won the Ungogo Constituency seat with 8,975 votes.

The elections were held to fill vacancies created by the demise of the former lawmakers. Major opposition parties, including the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), did not participate in the polls.
Resident Electoral Commissioner Abdu Zango attributed the low voter turnout to the timing of the elections and limited participation by political parties. The elections were generally peaceful, with no reported violence or security breaches.
