Anambra State government is urging transporters to resume full operations on Mondays to help end the sit-at-home practice and revive the economy. The Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, emphasized that transporters play a crucial role in reviving the state’s economy, especially on Mondays when civil servants, schools, and markets are operational.

The government has seen progress, with schools, banks, and markets operating on Mondays. However, traders and transporters are still struggling with transportation, affecting businesses and customers. The sit-at-home practice, initially instituted by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in 2021, has been abolished by the Anambra State Government, with penalties for non-compliance.

Transporters have pledged to resume Monday services if security is strengthened and fuel supply is adequate. Some transport companies, like Peace Mass Transit and Young Shall Grow Motors, have already resumed operations on Mondays.
