Armed men invaded a community in Kebbi State on Friday and kidnapped one resident, security sources confirmed.

The attackers stormed the village, firing shots to create panic before seizing the victim and fleeing toward nearby forest routes. Details on the victim’s identity and the exact location are still being withheld by authorities as investigations continue.

The Kebbi State Police Command said tactical teams, local vigilantes, and other security agencies have been deployed to border areas to track the abductors and secure the victim’s release. Police spokesperson SP Bashir Usman confirmed that search and rescue operations are ongoing across communities prone to bandit activity.

The incident adds to a string of recent attacks in Kebbi, including the abduction of 13 residents in Tangaram Village, Danko/Wasagu LGA, last month and repeated raids in Shanga LGA where bandits killed 8 people and displaced hundreds. Governor Nasir Idris has directed security chiefs to review tactics and intensify patrols in vulnerable border communities.

Authorities have urged residents to remain calm, avoid reprisal actions, and share credible information with security operatives to aid ongoing efforts.
