Former Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party.

Mimiko confirmed his exit in a letter, saying the decision came after wide consultations with political allies and supporters. He thanked the party for the platform it provided during his years in politics but noted that current realities prompted a rethink of his political alignment.

The former governor did not immediately announce his next move, stating that he would communicate his future plans after further engagement with stakeholders across the state and country.

Mimiko, who governed Ondo from 2009 to 2017, was a key PDP figure in the Southwest and previously served as Minister of Housing. His departure adds to recent shifts in the party’s membership ahead of upcoming political activities.

Party leaders have not yet issued an official response to the resignation.
