Senator Solomon Adeola, known as Yayi, has been named the All Progressives Congress consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Ogun State.

Governor Dapo Abiodun announced the decision during an ongoing APC stakeholders meeting in the state on Monday, April 13, 2026.

Adeola currently represents Ogun West in the Senate. He was elected in 2023 after previously serving as senator for Lagos West.

Governor Abiodun said the choice followed consultations with party leaders and stakeholders aimed at building unity ahead of the next governorship race.

The 2027 Ogun governorship election is scheduled to hold as part of Nigeria’s next general election cycle. Abiodun, who is serving his second term, is ineligible to run again.
