ABUJA KUGBO BUS TERMINAL DAMAGED BY RAINSTORM.

The Kugbo Bus Terminal in Abuja was severely damaged by a rainstorm on April 7, 2026, just nine months after its commissioning. The storm ripped off sections of the terminal’s roof, sending debris onto the busy Abuja-Keffi Expressway and causing heavy traffic gridlock. FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has directed the contractor to commence repairs without delay and deployed security personnel to prevent looting and ensure traffic flow.

The terminal, part of a trio of high-capacity transport hubs, was designed to process over 10,000 passengers daily and accommodate 120 buses. However, it never became operational due to pending approval from the Federal Executive Council for a Public-Private Partnership management model.

The incident has sparked criticism over the project’s quality and raised questions about maintenance culture and infrastructure durability. The FCT administration has assured the public that repairs will be carried out swiftly.
