The Supreme Court is set to hear suits related to the crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday, April 15, 2026. This development comes as both parties face internal leadership disputes that threaten their chances in the 2027 general elections.

The PDP is grappling with a leadership crisis following a Court of Appeal ruling that nullified its national convention, which produced a factional National Working Committee led by Tanimu Turaki. The party’s factions, led by Turaki and Nyesom Wike, are at odds, with some stakeholders warning that prolonged litigation could jeopardize the party’s participation in the 2027 elections

Meanwhile, the ADC is also embroiled in a leadership dispute, with multiple factions vying for control. The party’s crisis has raised concerns about its ability to mount an effective challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
