Controversial social media personality Blessing Okoro Nkiruka, popularly known as Blessing CEO, is facing fresh legal trouble after the family of a cancer survivor petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged fraud, forgery, and cyberbullying.

The petition, dated April 8, 2026, was filed by law firm S.M. Anyanwu & Co on behalf of Mrs. Mbara Deborah, a beauty entrepreneur from Asaba, Delta State. It accuses Blessing CEO of altering Deborah’s genuine medical report from Xinus Medical Diagnostic to falsely state she had “Stage 4 Cancer” and using it to solicit donations. The family alleges that more than ₦300 million was raised from unsuspecting Nigerians through the altered report, with funds paid into private accounts that were not remitted to the patient. 8b2d

According to the document, Deborah was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2025. Blessing CEO, a former client of Deborah’s makeup business, allegedly obtained the records and modified them to elicit greater public sympathy. The petition describes the act as “painful,” noting that while Deborah battled her illness, her image and falsified data were used to collect donations.

The petition also alleges cyberbullying of Deborah and her relatives after they questioned discrepancies in the fundraising campaign. A copy of the document bears a “received” stamp from the EFCC chairman’s office in Abuja, dated April 8, 2026.

This follows earlier controversy that began in January 2026 when Blessing CEO announced she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and appealed for financial help. She later said she received ₦13 million in donations, not the rumored ₦100 million, and described earlier “stage 4” claims as a “miscommunication”. Businessman Alafaa Kariboye-Igbo, CEO of Karib Oil and Gas Limited, has demanded a refund of ₦20 million he says he donated, alleging the appeal was misleading.

The Nigerian Cancer Society has called for a full-scale investigation into alleged false cancer claims and donation misconduct, warning that exploitation of cancer narratives could damage public trust. The family is demanding Blessing CEO’s arrest and prosecution.

As of April 8, 2026, EFCC sources confirmed receipt of the petition and said the commission will act based on the formal complaint. Blessing CEO has deactivated her Instagram account following the dispute.
