The All Progressives Congress has constituted a new National Campaign Council, with Senate President Godswill Akpabio named as head, supported by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and former Anambra governor Chris Uba.

Party leaders said the trio were selected for their track record in mass mobilisation, legislative management and winning elections across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. Akpabio will coordinate overall strategy, while Bamidele and Uba will handle ground operations and regional alignment.
According to APC officials, the council’s job is to harmonise efforts between the National Working Committee, state governors, National Assembly members and other party structures. The aim is to avoid conflicting messages and push one coordinated plan from Abuja down to ward level.
Observers note that placing the two top Senate officials in charge shows APC wants stronger backing from the National Assembly this election cycle. Uba’s role is also read as the party’s push to deepen its foothold in the South-East ahead of the polls.
The team is expected to roll out campaign themes, voter education drives and direct engagement with candidates in the coming weeks. Party chieftains say the priority now is discipline, unity and early preparation.
