Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has expressed confidence that no opposition party will take control of the state or Nigeria in the 2027 elections. He made this statement after defecting from the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the party’s strength and popularity in the state. Yusuf also threw his weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, describing the APC as the “party of the people”.

The governor’s remarks come amid speculation about the opposition’s chances in Kano, with some analysts suggesting that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) might pose a challenge. However, Yusuf dismissed the ADC as a party of “jokers” that stands no chance of winning in Kano.
