FG DECLARES GOOD FRIDAY, EASTER MONDAY PUBLIC HOLIDAYS IN NIGERIA.

The Nigeria Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration. Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the decision, urging Nigerians to reflect on the values of selflessness, forgiveness, and love exemplified by Jesus Christ’s life and teachings.

The Minister emphasized the importance of tolerance, community, and peaceful coexistence, stating that Easter reminds Nigerians of the shared values that strengthen national cohesion. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to policies driving national development, economic growth, and shared prosperity.

Government offices, ministries, and public institutions will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday, resuming normal operations on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
