The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has commenced an emergency upgrade of its headquarters’ electricity supply in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The project involves connecting the complex to a bilateral feeder of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, aiming to reduce diesel consumption and ensure uninterrupted power supply.

The scope of work includes constructing a 33KV double-circuit line, installing a 1.5MVA 33/0.415 distribution substation, and upgrading existing transformers and switchgear. Income Electrix, an integrated power company, has been awarded the contract and has begun work on the project.
According to Engr. Theophilus Alagoa, Director of Community and Rural Development at NDDC, the upgrade is an emergency intervention designed to provide a reliable power source for the commission’s headquarters. The project is expected to improve power supply and reduce costs in the long run.
