The Nigeria Customs Service has seized high-value smuggled goods worth ₦6.38 billion at Lagos’ Apapa port. The seized items include expired pharmaceutical products like Mixagrip Cold Caplets, Ladinax tablets, and chloroquine injections, as well as codeine-based cough syrups and restricted security equipment like bulletproof vests and walkie-talkies.

The Customs Comptroller-General, Bashir Adeniyi, stated that the operation was intelligence-driven and involved scanning technology and physical inspections. The seized goods also include expired food products like muffin cookies, tomato paste, and energy drinks, as well as 13 jumbo bags of Cannabis Sativa concealed in a Toyota Sienna vehicle.
The Customs Service has warned smugglers that Apapa Port is no longer a playground for illegal activities, emphasizing its commitment to enforcing regulations and protecting public health.
