The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, on Sunday received leaders of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council at his palace in Ile-Ife.

The delegation was led by the Director-General of the council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, former governor of Zamfara State.

Members of the delegation included Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Osun Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi who represented Governor Ademola Adeleke as state coordinator, former governors Olusegun Mimiko, Aliyu Wamakko, Rochas Okorocha, Danjuma Goje, and former Speaker Patricia Etteh.
Speaking at the palace, Yari said they were in Ife to seek the royal blessings, prayers and guidance of the Ooni ahead of the 2027 general elections and President Bola Tinubu’s second term bid.
Yari expressed confidence in Osun’s capacity to deliver, saying the council is targeting two million votes for Tinubu in Osun State in 2027.
“We are here today to seek the blessings of Your Imperial Majesty. We are committed to working tirelessly to ensure that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secures a second term in office,” Yari said.
He also commended Governor Adeleke for his commitment to the council’s activities.
Governor Aiyedatiwa on his part said governors have been charged to take responsibility for mobilisation in their states, adding that Ondo is for Asiwaju and promising one million votes for Tinubu.
The visit is part of a nationwide tour of traditional rulers by the APC PCC, which also took the team to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, in Kwara State before coming to Ife.
A statement from Yari’s media office clarified that the visits were not to seek political endorsement or mobilisation, but to seek prayers and blessings, recognizing the role of traditional rulers in promoting peace, unity and stability.
In his response, the Ooni commended President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for their contributions to the Yoruba race and development of the Oduduwa people, describing Tinubu as father of the nation.
