The African Action Congress, AAC, has written to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu requesting permission to use the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja for the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council.

The letter, dated October 21, 2026 and signed by the party’s National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, is seeking approval to hold the ceremony on November 11, 2026 ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The AAC, whose presidential candidate is Omoyele Sowore, also asked the Presidency to provide food, drinks and other logistical support for 5,000 participants expected from Nigeria and abroad.

According to the letter, which was shared on X by Sowore on Wednesday, the request is anchored on multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment of all political parties.

The party cited the recent inauguration of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council at the State House Conference Centre on October 14, arguing that similar arrangements should be extended to opposition parties.

The letter reads in part: “We believe that granting this request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness, equal access and the principle that public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination.”

The AAC said it awaits favourable consideration and requested information on procedures and conditions for approval.

As at press time, the Presidency has not responded to the request.
