11 DIE AFTER VEHICLE PLUNGES OFF OGUN BRIDGE ON LAGOS-ABEOUKUTA ROAD.

Eleven people have died following a fatal crash on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State, after their vehicle fell off Eruku Bridge.

The Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun confirmed the incident happened late Saturday night. According to FRSC spokesperson Afolabi Odunsi, the gold Toyota with plate number GGE722KJ somersaulted and dropped off the bridge, leaving all occupants trapped inside as the doors locked on impact.

All 11 passengers, 10 men and one woman, died at the scene. FRSC operatives from the Itori Unit, with help from local residents, had to dismantle the vehicle to retrieve the bodies. The remains were taken to the State Specialist Hospital morgue in Ifo.

Preliminary findings suggest the crash may have been caused by drunk driving and overloading. Ogun FRSC Sector Commander Oludare Ogunjobi urged drivers on the route to be extra cautious, especially when traveling at night, and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
