The Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Command, has dismantled a large drug trafficking syndicate in Lagos and seized suspected illicit substances worth over ₦7.8 billion.

The raid took place on May 19, 2026, in Mende, Maryland, and was executed by operatives of the Special Protection Unit alongside divisional detectives. Several suspects were arrested, including the alleged ringleader, 41-year-old Eke Henry Ifeanyi.

Assistant Inspector-General of Police Olohundare Jimoh said the group had been under surveillance for months prior to the operation. He added that the prime suspect tried to derail the raid by offering officers a ₦500 million bribe, which they rejected and officially documented on the spot.

According to police, the operation aligns with Inspector-General Olatunji Disu’s push for intelligence-led, community-based policing anchored on integrity, professionalism, and swift action.

Evidence recovered from the apartment is being processed for court. Investigators are still tracking other members of the network.
