The Lagos State Government has announced a 12-week traffic diversion plan for the reconstruction of a section of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, starting March 7, 2026. The Federal Ministry of Works will carry out the reconstruction work on the Lagos-bound carriageway between Super Bus-Stop and Ilepo Bus-Stop, and the main carriageway will be completely closed to traffic during this period.

To ease movement along the corridor, motorists can use alternative routes, including diverting through the BRT corridor at Super Bus-Stop and exiting at Pleasure Bus-Stop, or taking Ekoro Road to Old Otta Road via Alira Street, linking Abeokuta Street and reconnecting at Pleasure Bus-Stop. Another option is to use the Abule Egba Underbridge to connect Agege and proceed to their destinations.
Traffic on the Abeokuta-bound carriageway will remain uninterrupted throughout the construction period. The government has put in place measures to manage traffic, including stationing emergency tow vehicles within the BRT corridor for swift recovery operations. Motorists are advised to remain patient, comply with traffic signs, and cooperate with traffic management officials deployed along the corridor to ensure the safe and efficient execution of the project.
