
The Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, has made a significant breakthrough in its efforts to curb criminal activities in Taraba State. On February 21, 2026, troops of the Brigade arrested a suspected gunrunner, Monday Reuben, 48, from Adamawa State, at Sarkin Kudu in Ibi Local Government Area.

The operation was conducted following credible intelligence, and the troops recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, including 2 AK-47 rifles, 197 empty magazines, and 969 rounds of ammunition. The haul also included ₦2.44 million, a wallet with identification cards and ATM cards, phones, power bank, perfume, and other items.

The suspect and recovered items are currently in custody, pending handover to relevant authorities for further investigation and necessary action. The Brigade Commander, Chukwuemeka Akaliro, commended the troops for their vigilance and diligence, emphasizing the Nigerian Army’s commitment to ridding Taraba State of criminality and threats to lives and property.
