A Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected the bail application of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, citing that the request was premature. Justice Joyce Obehi Abdulmalik ruled that El-Rufai must be formally arraigned before his bail can be considered. The court has adjourned the case to April 23, 2026, for arraignment.

El-Rufai is facing charges related to cybercrime and breach of the Nigerian Communications Act, stemming from allegations that he unlawfully intercepted the phone communications of National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. His lawyer argued that the charges were invalid, and the search warrant used to raid his home was defective.
