Global ride-hailing company Uber has announced it will cease operations in Nigeria on September 2, 2026, bringing an end to its 12-year presence in the country.

The company disclosed that while its ride services will stop on that date, its help centre will remain open until September 23, 2026 to assist customers and drivers with final account enquiries and outstanding issues.

Uber entered the Nigerian market in 2014 and grew to become one of the most used e-hailing platforms across major cities including Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.

The exit marks a major shift in Nigeria’s ride-hailing space, which has seen increased competition from local and international players in recent years.

Affected riders and drivers have been advised to resolve any pending transactions and reach out to Uber support before the help centre closes on September 23.
