Operatives of the Department of State Services have detained former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu. 

Sources said the ex-minister was arrested Wednesday morning as he was about to depart for Abuja on a private aircraft. He stepped down from office last October following controversy surrounding his tenure. 

According to officials, the arrest was carried out at the instance of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission. The ICPC is probing Nnaji over accusations of certificate forgery and took custody of him after the DSS effected the pickup. 

The commission said it had issued multiple invitations to the former minister in connection with petitions on how he ran the ministry. After he failed to honour the invites, ICPC engaged the DSS to secure his arrest.
