All Progressives Congress candidate Rabiu Garba Aiki has been returned elected for the Zuru State Constituency seat in the Kebbi State House of Assembly, INEC announced Saturday night.

The Returning Officer declared Aiki winner after he polled 4,871 votes, defeating Labour Party’s Aliyu Galadima Muhammad who scored 168 votes. The by-election was held on June 20 across 200 polling units in Zuru LGA to fill the vacancy created by the death of former Speaker Mohammed Usman-Zuru in April 2026.
Only APC and LP fielded candidates for the poll, after meeting INEC’s nomination deadline in May. Voting used BVAS for accreditation and results were uploaded to the IReV portal as collation progressed.
INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner Abubakar Sarkin Pawa Dambo said the exercise was peaceful with low turnout in some units due to rainfall. APC Kebbi Chairman Abubakar Kana Zuru, who voted at Mango Waje Polling Unit, said the outcome showed continued confidence in the party ahead of 2027.
