Abductors of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar and his wife have listed the release of three detained members and the return of seized livestock as conditions for their freedom. The couple was kidnapped on May 30, 2026, along the Marabar Musawa–Kafinsoli road in Matazu LGA, Katsina State, near Zakin Baure village.

A four-minute video released by the captors on Saturday showed the couple in captivity. In the footage, the general’s wife relayed the demands on behalf of the gunmen. She said they want three members identified as Sani, Aminu, and Nasiru freed from custody. According to her, two were arrested in Jikamshi and the third in Kano.

The kidnappers also asked for livestock allegedly confiscated from them to be returned. She appealed to the Katsina State Government and leaders of five local government areas to help meet the conditions.

Major Gen. Abubakar spoke briefly in the video, calling for peace and noting the abductors expressed willingness for dialogue and peaceful coexistence. No ransom was mentioned in the video. The couple was abducted alongside their driver, Abdullahi Sa’idu.

As of press time, the Katsina State Government and security agencies had not issued an official statement on the video or demands.
