Yobe State Police Command says it has dismantled an illegal gun manufacturing workshop in Potiskum and arrested seven suspects. The raid, carried out on Wednesday, forms part of the Command’s new push to crack down on crime in the state.

Acting on credible intelligence, officers from the Potiskum Area Command and the Divisional Police Headquarters stormed a blacksmith shop at Tasha Adua, Danchuwa Road. Items recovered from the facility include two locally made pistols, 24 muzzle pipes, nine gun butts, four damaged Dane guns, a filing machine and a cutlass. The suspects are being questioned to uncover their network, buyers, and what the weapons were meant for.

CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin has ordered a wider investigation to track down other illegal fabrication sites and assess the security risks involved. The police also warned residents not to allow their properties to be used for criminal activities, and urged them to report any suspicious activity to security agencies immediately.
