The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested 39 suspects and sealed off an unlicensed security company operating in Akwa Ibom State.

The operation was carried out after intelligence revealed the firm was running security services without proper authorization. NSCDC operatives moved in, detained the suspects, and shut down the outfit’s operations.

The Corps said the clampdown is part of efforts to curb illegal security operations and protect residents from unvetted personnel. The 39 arrested persons are expected to face further investigation and prosecution in line with regulations governing private security outfits.

NSCDC has repeatedly warned that only registered and licensed firms are allowed to provide guard services in Nigeria.
