Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a 42-year-old man for alleged illegal possession of firearms and ammunition along the Benin-Lagos highway.

The suspect, identified as Ogbole Henry, was picked up by the Safer Highway Patrol Team during a routine stop-and-search operation near the “Evil Forest” area. Police intercepted a commercial bus coming from Lagos and profiled passengers on board.
A search led to the recovery of a pump-action shotgun, two locally made pistols, 18 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and 10 live cartridges. Officers also impounded a Lexus RX 330 believed to be linked to the suspect.
Henry, an indigene of Ewu in Esan Central LGA, has been charged to court. The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Moses Yamu, said investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the gang.
The command reiterated its commitment to ridding Edo highways of criminal elements and urged residents to share timely information with security agencies.
