One person was killed on Sunday at the venue of the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary election in Kasuwan Ali, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, after a protest turned violent.

The victim, Sani Abdullahi, died during a clash between youths and security operatives. Trouble began when party members protested the delay in starting the exercise, which was meant to hold on Saturday but was postponed due to the absence of returning officers.

Resident Ibrahim Sale said frustration mounted as officials who came to monitor the process attempted to leave. Some youths blocked the road and insisted the primary must hold before anyone left the venue. When security personnel moved in to disperse the crowd, stones were thrown at them. Soldiers responded with gunfire, and a stray bullet struck Abdullahi.

The shooting caused panic, with residents and party supporters running for safety. Community members have condemned the killing and are urging authorities to investigate the incident.
