Troops of the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation Hadin Kai, have intercepted six suspected logistics suppliers linked to terrorist groups during a security patrol in Borno State.

According to military officials, the arrests were carried out at about 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday by personnel of the 5 Brigade under Operation Desert Sanity. The individuals — Madu Bagoni Bunu, 32; Kaka Hana, 28; Kwado Bukar, 25; Modu Goni Musa, 28; Lahari Hassan Taira, 30; and Bulama M. Kiari, 25 — were in an Isuzu pickup with registration number YOBE AF 106 GDM when they tried to escape upon seeing the soldiers.

The troops pursued and detained the group after they abandoned the vehicle.

A search of the truck revealed a range of items, including five mobile phones of varying brands, two brand-new sewing machines, and 10 bundles of fabric in brown, black, green, blue, and purple, suspected to be for making insurgent uniforms. Other recovered items included five 25-litre containers of groundnut oil, two bags of assorted green tea, seven large packs of kola nuts, an empty jerrycan, ATM cards from OPay and Moniepoint, the pickup truck, and ₦5,077,700 in cash.

The suspects remain in custody with the 5 Brigade while preliminary investigations continue.

The military said the operation is part of wider measures to disrupt supply chains supporting insurgents in the North-East. Authorities added that the security situation in the region remains calm but unpredictable, with troops sustaining strong morale and operational effectiveness.
