The Ogun State Police Command has intercepted an attempted hijacking of a commercial truck in Ijebu Mushin, recovering the stolen vehicle and an improvised weapon at the scene.

According to the Command, the incident occurred in the Oke-Ado area of Ijebu North Local Government Area, where a group of armed men attacked a truck driver transporting auto parts and seized control of his DAF truck. Following a distress alert, officers from the Ijebu Mushin Division and highway patrol teams mobilized immediately and closed in on the suspects.

Faced with the police presence, the assailants abandoned the truck and escaped into the surrounding area. The driver, who sustained minor injuries during the confrontation, was given first aid on site.

A subsequent inspection of the vehicle uncovered a wooden replica rifle wrapped in black tape, which authorities believe was used to intimidate the driver.

The State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, lauded the rapid response of the operatives and said the Command remains focused on maintaining public safety across the state. Efforts to locate the fleeing suspects are currently underway.
